Home Dental Service: Is it Safe and Worth it?

At first glance, availing home dental cleaning services seems safer as there is less of a chance of exposing yourself to Covid-19, and way more convenient since you no longer have to travel and sit in a waiting room for however long; all you have to do is wait for the dentist to show up at your doorstep and have the cleaning procedure done in the comfort of your own home.

The question is: Is a home dental cleaning service safe? And, I’m sorry to burst your bubble, but it is absolutely ill-advised for both the patient and the dentist to conduct any dental procedure outside of a proper dental clinic no matter how convenient it may seem, and here’s why:

  1. A Private Home is Not a Proper Environment

  • First thing’s first, your home will never be as sterile as a dental clinic, so naturally the chance of infection is extremely high considering that any dental procedure obviously entails inserting sharp and pointy metal implements into your mouth which is essentially a prime breeding ground for bacteria.

  1. The Dentist Chair is a Requirement

  • Another reason why home dental services is a horrible idea is because of the lack of a dental chair. But why is it so important? You may ask, because the dental chair makes it easier for the dentist to access your teeth, and can ensure proper body posture while conducting the procedure. It has been proven many times that the dentist chair satisfies both comfort and functionality.

  1. The Lack of Proper Equipment is a MAJOR Risk for Both Parties Involved

  • Any dental procedure requires extreme precision, and it can only be achieved with the proper equipment. Why did I say it is a risk to both the dentist and the patient? For one thing, doing the procedure at an improper angle can cause significant strain on a dentist’s back, as well as their fingers especially if done repeatedly and for extended periods of time. And for obvious reasons, it could pose a significant risk of injury to the patient as well if for example the dentist’s hands are shaky and/or slip while there is a sharp metal tool in your mouth.

  1. It’s Simply Not Worth it.

  • As tempting as it is to ask a dentist to come to your home and do the dental cleaning procedure, any perceived convenience is not worth the risk of injury. Unless you have the proper equipment and a sterile environment in your house- which is highly unlikely, then by all means go for it. But in most cases just go for the traditional dental clinic services.

How to Keep Dental Cleaning at an Affordable Price?

  • Teeth cleaning price in the Philippines is affected by a myriad of factors, chief among which are the extent of which your teeth will need to be cleaned and the location of the clinic. The easiest way to keep the price of your teeth cleaning is to simply take good care of your teeth. Brush at least twice a day, use dental floss and mouthwash, and visit your dentist once every six months.

  • -       Another way to keep the price down is to avail dental clinic services at Dental World Manila, as it has many locations throughout malls, and hospitals in the city. And I won’t forget to mention that it’s one of if not the most competitive and affordable dental clinic in Manila

In conclusion: Home dental services are way too risky despite the apparent convenience. The price of traditional dental clinic services will always be more affordable than the consequences of doing these kinds of high-precision procedures without the proper equipment and environment.
